Babs Teen-age Queen of Fashion
This is Babs Teenage Queen of Fashion by Fab-Lu Limited mint in box. Note the first doll comes in an oval plastic container, while others came in a cardboard box with cellophane window. Variation in all forms will be continually seen throughout due mainly to cost in production. All wear the black and white striped swimsuit. She is made of hard plastic with flesh tones. Often there will be chips and glue marks on her seams. She is strung with rubber bands that allow moveable arms and legs. The hair has a thread-like quality and comes in blonde, red, brunette, and black. A plastic platform keeps her standing.
I have both dolls with black painted shoes with holes in them which would accomodate a stand with a wire waist holder and dolls that do not have painted on shoes.
Pert & Pretty
This outfit is shown never removed from box in a pink and white color combination. The skirt gains fullness due to the flared, solid pane of matching color. Also shown is a plastic snap open purse, sandals and a black scottie dog with leash. Note the blue color variation on the doll.It also came in red.
This is a very rare outfit and I believe to be "Let's Dance" has a tight bodice that reveals one bare shoulder. The dress came with a silver cord attached front to back and the bodice is very tight that the snap pops open when on a doll. Tagged with the British Crown Colony tag. It maybe hard to find because the fragile cord was pulled off or the bodice being so tight it wouldn't stay on a doll for long! Who knows?
Light Of Love & Formal Reception And Unknown Outfits
The booklet includes 38 outfits. Not all are included in this booklet. Light of love is in the booklet and shown on the first doll as well as mint in box. The The next doll is wearing Formal reception as well as mint in box;(this one is very hard to identify from the booklet) All the others are not and have unknown names.I wonder if mistakes were made at the factory because the red swimsuit with coverup seems to be Randy's not Babs as the box reads. The next few pictures will not feature the Babs doll only her outfits.
The names of the outfits are as follows: Arabesque,Fashion Whirl,Fifth Avenue, and Happy Weddin Day.Next picture shows Queen of hearts (Note verical strips on bottom of skirt), Golden Charmer, Walking the Dog,Beach Beauty and Lets go Formal.Third picture shows Light of Love, Rip Tide ( needs a red skirt),Slack Suit,Variations of Cummerbund Cutie and Shopper Stopper.
